DeForest Kelley (20.1.1920 - 11.6.1999)

DeForest Jackson Kelley, Atlanta, Georgia'da doğdu. Kelley hep amcası gibi doktor olmak istemişti ama Bunalım döneminde, ailesi maddi sıkıntıda olduğu için onu Tıp Okulu'na gönderemedi. Kilise Korosu'nda olması, radyoda ve Atlanta Paramunt Tiyatrosu'nda Lew Forbes Orkestrası'yla birlikte şarkı söylemesini sağladı.

17 yaşını bitirince, Long Beach, California'ya, iki hafta için amcasını ziyaret etmeye gitti. Ancak oradan bir türlü ayrılmaya gönlü razı olmadı: iki hafta bir yıl oldu. Sonra Georgia'ya döndüyse de, burada yaşamayı imkansız buldu ve bir süre için California'ya döndü.

Long Beach'te yerel bir tiyatro topluluğuna katıldı. Grubun bir üyesi de Carolyn Dowling'di, 1945'te Bayan Kelley oldu. Paramount'un bir "yetenek avcısı"nın onu farketmesiyle, bir ekran testinden geçti. Sonuçta stüdyoyla bir sözleşme imzaladı. Kelley Paramount'ta iki buçuk sene geçirdi ve başrolde oynadığı ilk filmi olan "Fear in the Night"da rol aldı.

New York'da bazı firmalarda ve televizyonlarda çalıştıktan sonra, aktörlük kariyerine devam etmek için West Coast'a döndü. The Gunfight at OK Corral, Raintree Country ve Warlock gibi birçok westernde kötü adamı oynadı. Playhouse 90, Gunsmoke ve Bonanza da oynadığı TV dizilerinden birkaçıydı.
